THUMOS: is it in you?


The Greek word "thumos" is the word I like to translate as zeal. It is used often by Socrates in the platonic dialogues when he says we should be zealous to know truth, and other things. This is a parody of a Gatorade add, titled Thumos: is it in you? A phrase that my Greek teacher of last year used to reiterate while we translated the Meno.

Ovarium Cancer

I went shopping with my girlfriend yesterday--really boring stuff--but when I was over at the register waiting around for her to finally finish up I saw this CD for sale. It said, "Ovarium Cancer" on the cover and for a second I thought it was the name of the band.
